Objective of PM Internship Scheme

The primary objective of launching the internship scheme is to provide internship opportunities to all the unemployed youth of India. In 5 years, the central government of India is all set to provide internship opportunities to 1 crore youth of India. According to the Government of India, a total of 500 companies will participate in the PM internship scheme and provide internship opportunities to the youth.

This scheme will help the youth of India to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical knowledge. All the citizens of India who are between the ages of 21 and 24 and are currently unemployed are eligible to avail the internship scheme.

Schedule of PM Internship Scheme

The Prime Minister internship scheme’s schedule is as  follows:

• Officially, the program began on 3 October 2024.
• From 3 October 2024 to 11 October 2024, companies can register and promote open internship slots. Companies can use this time to prepare for and promote their internship programs.
• Applicants for internships will be accepted from 12 October 2024.
• The duration of the internship program is 1 year.

• Those who have qualifications like CA, CMA, CS, MBBS, BDS, MBA any master or higher degree.
• Those who are undergoing any skill, apprenticeship, internship or student training program under the schemes of the central government or state government.
• Those who have completed apprentice ship training under the national apprenticeship training scheme or national apprentice ship promotion scheme at anytime.
• If the annual income of the family of the selected candidate is more than Rs 8 lakh for the financial year 2023-24, then he is not eligible.
• If any member of the family is a permanent/regular government employee.

Partner Company Criteria

• Under this scheme, top 500 companies will be selected by the government of India on the basis of their average CSR expenditure of the last 3 years.
• If any other company wants to participate in the internship scheme, it has to take approval from the ministry of corporate affairs.
• If a company cannot provide internship opportunities to the youth directly, they can tie up with their forward for backward supply chains.
• Companies can also tie up with various other companies in their group by sitting there own terms.
