The Bangal government is going to release the first phase of funds under the Bangla Awas Yojana. Under this scheme, 11.5 lakh people will be distributed in three installments. Due to non release of funds by the center in the last few years, the state government has decided to finance this scheme independently. District magistrates have been instructed to carefully check the list of beneficiaries, as in the past it has been found that many people included in the list were ineligible, but they already had houses.

Objective of Bangla Awas Yojana 1st Installment
The main objective of this scheme is to provide pucca houses to EWS families. Eligible applicants will get Rs 1,20,000 from the west Bangla government to build their pucca houses. The total amount under this scheme will be given in 3 equal installments.

- The annual income of the family should be between Rs 6 lakh and 18 lakh.
- Women, irrespective of religion and caste are eligible for this benefit.
- Beneficiaries from the economically weaker section, middle income group and low income group can apply for this scheme.
- People from schedule tribes and schedule castes are eligible for this scheme.

Installment amount for the schemes beneficiaries will be transferred to their registered bank accounts directly. Besides, every beneficiary will receive wages worth Rs. 213 each day for 95 days under the MGNREGA scheme. This wagerah represents the labour cost to construct a house.
